A Playable „Six-Sided“ Vinyl Record With Overlapping Tracks

Die Schallplatte hat natürlich nur zwei Seiten. Technisch gesehen kann man die Nadel aber an sechs verschiedenen Stellen anlegen. Dafür braucht es dann auch fünf Löcher.

Die Tracks sind in versetzten Rillen auf das Vinyl gepresst und verlaufen teilweise ineinander. An diesen Stellen macht die Nadel ein eigentlich unerwünschtes Geräusch. Die Musik die für dieses Objekt ausgesucht wurde stammt von der Band American Monoxide und berücksichtigt aber genau diese Stellen in der Komposition.

A five holed, six sided, playable vinyl record. Each side has a Venn Diagram of two grooves with an unattached groove around the outside. American Monoxide is the solo project of Dimitri Manos (Golden Boots/Dr Dog/LABRYYYNTH), who recorded a 16 minute sound collage composition with the limitations of this record in mind. On some loops, when the groove crosses the other groove, it causes a chirp sound. Dimitri composed the piece to the rhythm of the loop, using it as a beat.
