Christopher Herwig puts soviet bus stops to music
Seit zwanzig Jahren fährt Christopher Herwig durch die Länder der ehemaligen Soviet Union und dokumentiert fotografisch was von den seinerzeit sehr kreativen und voller propagandistischer Symbolik aufgeladenen Bushaltestellen übrig geblieben ist. Den Soundtrack zum daraus entstandenen Film gibt es bald auf Vinyl.

Auf der LP befinden sich neben tollen Score-Elementen im Synthwave Stil, Klassiker alter Soviet-Stars wie Alyans und dessen Mitglied Oleg Parastaev. Die Stimmung könnte gar nicht passender sein. Neben Film und Soundtrack erschienen bereits im Vorfeld zwei Bildbände. So kann man dem Sound z.B. auch lauschen während man sich durch die Hochglanz-Fotos dieser kleinen architektonischen Meisterwerke blättert.
Ein Projekt voller Nerd-Geist und Herzblut, dessen Vinyl-Kampagne gerade auf Kickstarter läuft.
After more than two decades, two books and over 50,000 km, documenting the bus stops created during the period of the former Soviet Union continues to drive me. I am proud to announce we have now completed a documentary film. Through interviews with several of their designers it explores why and how these unique and fascinating roadside structures were built. These bus stops are disappearing fast and we hope to capture the spirit of imagination and individuality that so many of them possess, a rare quality in an era of occupation and state control. It is a spirit we have captured in this soundtrack.
