Leider nicht nur ein schlechter Witz: In der Nähe von Moskau experimentieren sie damit Kühe mehr Milch produzieren zu lassen, in dem sie ihnen VR-Brillen aufsetzen, die ihnen vorgaukeln sie seinen auf der Weide.

Wie weit muss die Menschheit noch sinken, bis sie auf die Idee kommt vielleicht einfach mal weniger Milch zu verbrauchen?

Natürlich hat diese Story auch irgendwie Matrix-mässigen Techno-Charme (Man denke an Milchpackungen mit VR-Brillen Kühen drauf). Ich hoffe aber inständig, dass die globale Nahrungsmittelindustrie diesen neuen Tiefpunkt in Sachen Tier-Ethik nie ernsthaft aufgreifen wird.

The project subjected cattle to a simulated summer field with colors tuned for the animals‘ eyes, giving them a decidedly more pleasing landscape than a plain, confining farm. It appears to have worked, at least on a basic level. The first test reduced the cows‘ anxiety and boosted their overall sentiment. While it’s not certain how well this affects the quality or volume of milk, there are plans for a more „comprehensive“ study to answer that question.
