Robot Graduation

Die ‚Business Breakthrough University‘ in Tokio wollte ihre Absolventenfeier nicht einfach aufgrund der Corona-Pandemie ausfallen lassen. Deshalb wurden die Organisatoren erfinderisch.

Die frisch gebackenen Akademiker konnten sich per Video-Call quasi auf rollende Roboter „schalten“ und so durch deren Perspektive an den Feier teilnehmen.

Physisch anwesend war lediglich das Lehrpersonal. Der Dekan konnte so jedem Studenten auf Augenhöhe gratulieren und die Urkunde überreichen. die Dozenten zeigten jeweils ihren stolz durch Applaus.

Darf Schule machen ?

The robots‘ „faces“ were tablets that displayed the faces of the graduates, who logged on at home and controlled the robots via their laptops.

One by one, the robots motored toward the podium to receive their diplomas. School staff clapped and said „congratulations!“ as University President Kenichi Ohmae placed the diplomas on a rack mounted on the robot’s midsection.
