Dronen die mit Hilfe künstlicher Intelligenz auf Opfersuche gehen und den ‚bösen Jungs‘ mittels eingebauter Sprengladung das Gehirn zerstören in einer ziemlich beängstigenden Keynote.

Nein das ist zum Glück (noch) keine Realität, doch der Gedanke liegt nicht fern, dass es irgendwo schon Leute gibt, die genau an so etwas arbeiten. Bei dem Clip handelt es sich um einen Diskussionsbeitrag zwischen zwei US-Unis von denen die eine in der Tat an der Technik für autonome Waffen forscht. Weiterhin liegt es einem Antrag bei der ‚United Nations Convention on Conventional Weapons‘ bei, der durchsetzten will das diese Forschung verboten wird.
Ja das ist wirklich scary und auch wenn ich sonst eher auf der Seite derjenigen stehe, die nicht gleich alles verbieten wollen, nur weil es theoretisch mißbraucht werden könnte, komme ich hier definitiv an meine Grenzen. Die Fake-Keynote wäre auf jeden Fall etwas für die nächste Staffel Black Mirror. Mehr zu lesen gibt es hier!
Perhaps the most nightmarish, dystopian film of 2017 didn’t come from Hollywood. Autonomous weapons critics, led by a college professor, put together a horror show. It’s a seven-minute video, a collaboration between University of California-Berkeley professor Stuart Russell and the Future of Life Institute that shows a future in which palm-sized, autonomous drones use facial recognition technology and on-board explosives to commit untraceable massacres. The film is the researchers‘ latest attempt to build support for a global ban on autonomous weapon systems, which kill without meaningful human control. They released the video to coincide with meetings the United Nations‘ Convention on Conventional Weapons is holding this week in Geneva, Switzerland, to discuss autonomous weapons.
