Top Gear (SNES Playthrough)

Selbstverständlich musste hier noch irgendwann ein Top Gear Playthrough rein. Eines der besten Racing Games der 16 Bit Era und spielerisch aus meiner Sicht sogar vor Outrun, der ewigen Pixel-Blaupause des Genres.

Auch wenn Lambos natürlich durchaus ein Pfund in die retro Waagschale legen, bleibt der Outrun Vibe natürlich insgesamt unübertroffen. Dennoch wäre es eine Schande Top Gear links liegen zu lassen. :)

I see no reason to mince words here: I love Top Gear. In my humble opinion, Top Gear sits among the best 2D arcade-style racers ever made. It’s one of those games where everything clicks together in all the right ways, and the resulting magic is so much greater than the sum of its parts. It’s easy to pick up and hard to put down, it’s fast, it controls like a dream, and I’m quite certain that – like it has for the past thirty-two years – the soundtrack will continue to live on in my head until the day I die.

The Lotus games were celebrated mainstays of the Amiga library, and Top Gear inherited their best qualities while cranking everything up to eleven. I think it’s just as fun now as it was back in the 90s, and I know I’m not alone in that opinion!

Alright, I’m done gushing. (But seriously, play this game!)
